Custom Photo Images began in September 1991, born from Peter Lorber's passion for creating super-sized fine art prints in his self-built darkroom. Frustrated by the subpar quality of local printing labs, Peter, with the encouragement of his fellow photographers, opened a professional photo lab in Boca Raton alongside his wife, Addie.
The lab quickly gained a reputation for excellence, leading to the addition of Courtenay Gilbert in 1992. Courtenay, a talented professional photographer, printer, and designer, soon became Peter's creative partner. Together, they broadened the company's offerings to include custom fine art printing and custom framing services. Courtenay’s discerning eye for design, coupled with her expertise in framing, ensures that clients receive beautiful custom frames tailored to their specific needs and budgets, with special pricing available for artists and designers.
From its origins as a darkroom and film processing operation, Custom Photo Images has continuously adapted and evolved into a comprehensive full-service digital lab, a professional photography studio, and an in-house custom framing shop. Courtenay, Peter, and Addie operate as a cohesive team, dedicated to delivering stunning images, top-tier products, and exceptional professional service to their clientele. In 2022, the business was rebranded as 'Custom Photo and Framing' to more accurately represent its diverse range of services.
